Travis County plans 303-acre prescribed burn in Dripping Springs

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Travis County Parks said it would conduct a prescribed burn in Dripping Springs on Thursday, Aug. 14.

“Prescribed burns are an important land management tool used to reduce wildfire risk, restore native habitats, and promote healthy plant and animal life,” TC Parks said. “The goal of this burn is to maintain a healthy fire-adapted ecosystem that will benefit plants, wildlife, and park users.”

The 303-acre burn would take place between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Milton Reimers Ranch Park, which is off Hamilton Pool Road.

TC Parks said smoke from the burn could be visible from surrounding roads and communities, including Bee Cave, Lakeway, Spicewood, Highway 71 and Hamilton Pool Road.

The Hogge Multi-Use Trail will be closed both Thursday and Friday, according to TC Parks.
