No democratic majority

Carney obtaining a majority by enticing five MPs to cancel the votes of 100,000 Canadians for their own self interests is an affront to Canada’s very democracy! Democracy is thought to mean government by the people, of the people and for the people. Power-hungry Carney enticing floor-crossers to reward him with unfettered power is an affront to everything this country once stood! Get ready to see Carney’s real radical WEF/New World Order agenda now on steroids including even more attacks of personal freedoms. This Carney back-door road to a majority is likely to boost the growing Alberta separation movement!

Oughta be a law
This floor-crossing nonsense has gone way too far. There oughta be a law against any political party blatantly poaching active members of a rival party after they’ve been duly elected by a majority of their constituents. Not only is it a sketchy action, it borders on being just plain immoral! A simple fix would be to have any and all candidates running in any election sign a declaration that they agree to represent the party’s banner that they get elected under for the duration of their mandate. If they want to switch parties, they have to wait till the next election cycle and then get the nod to run under any party they wish. Let the public decide if they still support them. PM Carney obtaining a majority government by stealing representatives is not only just wrong, it degrades the whole democratic process. As far as I’m concerned, the Liberals may profess they have a majority government but they’re no better than what you would see in a country like North Korea.

Voters be warned
Warning to Albertans and Canadians: If you want Alberta to stay in Canada, don’t vote Liberal. Voting Liberal will entice more Albertans to vote for separation in the Alberta Referendum. Mark Carney and his Liberal government are selling Canada out to the globalists, which makes them traitors. Carney endorsed a New World Order in Davos at the WEF conference. He has proven to be a dictator wanting to invoke EV mandates, stall oil pipelines, keep the carbon tax and implement the gun buyback program. I’m not telling you who to vote for, but please, don’t vote Liberal. Carney has proven to be a lame-duck prime minister who has done absolutely nothing. The Liberals are the main cause of separatist movements, stemming from Western alienation in the early 1980s (WCC, Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s NEP) to Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax and Carney’s inaction. If Carney wins a majority it will add fuel to the fire causing more and more Albertans to vote for separation and secession from Canada. Many Canadians have voluntarily emigrated from Canada to live in other countries because they dislike the Liberal government. So remember this: a vote for the Liberals is a vote for Alberta separation.

‘Anti-semitic’ nonsense
(Re: ‘Bottom line,’ Letters to the Editor, Calgary Sun April 11) I just read the letter to the Calgary Sun from contributor Eric Howard. I had no choice but to immediately text a response to what I read as unabashed anti-semitic racism. This person obviously hates the Jewish people and their homeland Israel. If he actually believes Israel ‘is actively committing the most well-recorded genocide in history,’ then I have to presume he is either a racist in the extreme, or else utterly and quite hopelessly uneducated. Has he never heard of something called The Holocaust? Look it up, circa 1940s. You should have no trouble finding the odd book or DVD on the subject. As for Israel defending itself against an Islamic world hell-bent on killing all Jews and eradicating the only Jewish country on Mother Earth, I have to question who really is attempting to commit genocide? Obviously, I take offence with Howard’s absurd and disgusting claim. I know I can’t possibly be alone in my anger. Please, send this man some books!

Wrong on density
Everyone keeps talking about how the increase in density to the city’s neighbourhoods is all about affordability. Never saw any better home pricing after all the infills were and are being put in. Just look at Vancouver, Toronto, New York city. I think it’s just B.S. Did any neighbourhood’s property taxes go down with the extra revenue the city was generating per neighbourhood? Not.

Canada losing out
Just watched the CEO of TransCanada energy give a quick summary of last year’s discretionary spending. Of the $10 billion, six was spent on pipeline maintenance and safety and four was spent on new development in the U.S. He went on to say that with the crisis in the Mideast, counties want natural gas now. Not two years of permitting and three years of construction, but now. And they will find it with Canada left with the short end of the stick. Can anyone tell me how this keeps happening over and over and over again? Oh yes. Stupid Canadian voters. And on a positive note. I live in Alberta and with the latest price of oil at $111 per barrel, we are counting the money in the billions.

Facing up to it
Americans should not be surprised one day soon to find President Donald Trump’s image on U.S. currency and his picture on billboards and banners scattered in cities all over the United States of America.

(The United States of Trump?)
Canada beware
Finance Minister Champagne recently led a delegation of business leaders to China to deepen financial sector ties. Those ties could quickly become a stranglehold on our economy, our government, and our very way of life, given China’s history of meddling in Canadian affairs. Obviously, Champagne and his globe-trotting boss aren’t concerned about that or anything else, except when and where their next photo-op is happening. Bon voyage!

Stop wasting out money
To the big shot in Ottawa: Stop giving away my money! You do not pay close to $2 a litre for gas to get to work. You do not pay outrageous prices for food. I and the working people of this country do. And stop blaming Donald Trump for all this. We have plenty of fuel but the Liberals love stealing from Canadians. We had a chance to throw out the freeloaders. Canada was a proud nation once, even with Liberal governments from the past, but your devotion to Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney ruined it all!
RICK DWORNIKIEWICZ, Delhi, Ont.
(And it is about to go pear shaped even more when Carney gets his majority in a few days time. Elbows up!)
Playing name game
‘Progressive Tory’ is a stunning example of an oxymoron, similar to pretty ugly. My advice to (leader Peter) Guthrie is to add the word ‘Red’ to the name of the party. The Progressive Red Tory Party … then voters will know where you are. I am so fed up with politicians and their name-game antics.
JEFFREY ANDERSON
(They would have preferred ‘Progressive Conservative,’ but that was a no-go)
