Cameron in Milam County excited to get in on Austin’s economic boom

(Austin Business Journal) — Ginger Watkins has a saying when she’s talking to prospective businesses about Cameron, the city of roughly 5,500 people located 70 miles northeast of Austin in Milam County.

“Cameron is not too close to anything, but not too far from everything,” Watkins said. “So if you need to get there from here, and you need one location in the state of Texas to reach the majority of the population, you need to be in Cameron.”

The spiel has worked for employers that have set up in Cameron, the Milam County seat, and commute around the state.
